Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, online urban clothing boutique, Karmaloop, is perhaps SKYLIST's "hippest" client. Karmaloop also stands out as one of the few true dot.com success stories. Founder, Greg Selkoe attributes his company's steady growth to standing by its mission to "provide a universally accessible fashion alternative to the evil forces of McFashion." During the past four years, Karmaloop has expanded from a one-computer-company that warehoused its inventory in Greg's parents' basement to a profitable online retailer with a repeat customer base of over 70,000.

As the boutique's order flow and customer care requirements have increased, so too has the importance of its email communication programs. "Several months ago," offers Finance Manager Rahul Nilosey, "Karmaloop's growing needs compelled us to evaluate whether our initial email hosted service could scale in alignment with both our higher-touch outbound emarketing initiatives and our more complex customer demands. After much due diligence, the answer was no." While most SKYLIST clients come on board in a less dramatic fashion than Karmaloop, many are put in similar scenarios as their businesses scale beyond the capabilities of their first email service providers.
