Since 1969, UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, has served as the world's largest international source of funding for population and reproductive health programs. Working with governments and non-governmental organizations in over 140 countries UNFPA has provided nearly $6 billion in assistance to developing countries.
When UNFPA contacted SKYLIST in 2002, broadcast email programs were green field for the organization. Accordingly, UNFPA Marketing Director, Alvaro Serrano was determined to identify and implement solution designed specifically around UNFPA's unique email communication campaign requirements. After determining that outsourcing service was best aligned with UNFPA goals, Mr. Serrano then began seeking a leading email solution partner to move his efforts forward.
UNFPA's chief criteria for email solution selection centered on finding a partner that could provide the division of the United Nations with an easy way to create, deliver, and track the performance of the email messages it broadcasts to its membership. This would enable the UNFPA to offer its broad, global subscriber, ranging from students to top-level decision makers and political leaders, with targeted, interest-based news and information.
UNFPA reviewed many email solution providers during its Request for Proposal selection process. Ultimately, SKYLIST emerged as the best partner for the project. Recollecting the search, Mr. Serrano notes that, “While I first thought it would be difficult to find an email solution that matched our requirements SKYLIST's seamless hosted service was a near perfect match. In the end though, it was SKYLIST's sincere dedication to assisting us to achieve our goals that stole the show. That’s won our trust and our business.”
In addition to providing UNFPA with an automated broadcast email solution to personally communicate with its members, SKYLIST's solution has also provided the organization with:
- An end-to-end data management and relational database architecture that allows for seamless data sharing between the provided email list system and the UNFPA's offline databases.
- The ability to create and manage 30+ group lists.
- The capacity to send HTML and text emails, complete with click-through tracking, real-time reporting, one-to-one personalization, and precise targeting based on recipient's preferences and attributes.
- A simple and secure web-based administration module.
- Detailed tracking and reporting capabilities to be delivered to the web-based administration dashboard in real-time, all the time.
Commenting on UNFPA's satisfaction with SKYLIST's solution, Mr. Serrano specifies, "More than a year later, UNFPA continues to realize benefits from our email system." SKYLIST is appreciative of UNFPA's business and is now seeking additional ways to assist it to leverage email technology to further progress its important mission.
