Inaugural Earth Day Campaign Generates 50% Open Rate

Austin, TX-April 26, 2004 - As communities across America celebrated Earth Day, email service provider SKYLIST celebrated a new email marketing partnership with the Ad Council. To initiate the relationship, SKYLIST and the Ad Council collaborated on a four-part Earth Day awareness campaign that focused on the environmental efforts of the Ad Council's Energy Efficiency, Environmental Defense, Wildfire Prevention, and Earth Share partners. The email outreach employed SKYLIST's StormPost email marketing system to provide the Ad Council's audience with a precisely targeted, personalized, rich public service advertisement (PSA).

The "Earth Day" PSA was designed to build up our nation's observance of Earth Day on April 22, 2004 by targeting radio and television outlets that received tapes of the PSAs. The campaign achieved this goal by enticing stations to play the PSAs to provide viewers with information about what they can do to improve the world around them. By combining rich media and HTML email messages, results of the Ad Council campaign were compelling with a 50% open rate within hours of delivery.
