Austin Businesses Enlist SKYLIST Email Marketing Solutions
Nationally Ranked Email Service Provider Finds Success in Its Backyard
AUSTIN, TX March 21, 2005 - Today, SKYLIST announced that 15 Austin-based businesses are using the company's nationally-recognized SKYLIST StormPost™ email marketing automation system. Decision makers cited technology strength, industry expertise, and customer service as the key buying factors. In alignment with Austin's "shop locally" mantra-recognized nationally through the efforts of the Austin Independent Business Alliance-all companies cited SKYLIST's Austin headquarters and privately held status as "important" in their buying decision.
In 2004, SKYLIST made technology, marketing, and human resources investments to establish itself as a leader in its raucous marketplace and consequently was named the #2 ranked email service provider by leading research firm JupiterResearch. The company signed on President Rick Westervelt and secured key national accounts including eDiets.com and The Ad Council. SKYLIST also took its place at the forefront of CAN-SPAM compliance, by launching a spin-out company to help marketers comply with the nation's first federal anti-spam law. As SKYLIST gained increasing prestige, the Austin business community began to take notice.
Email Marketing Helps Sell out KLRU-TV Distinguished Speaker Series
KLRU-TV, Austin's community licensed public television station, used SKYLIST StormPost to promote subscription package sales to the 2005 KLRU Distinguished Speaker Series (DSS). The DSS features six lectures by authors and thought leaders taking place one per month in January to June. During the Speaker Series' seven years, KLRU primarily used traditional mailings to cultivate subscription sales. This year, KLRU added email marketing to people who have expressed an interest in past Speaker Series events. Because of the added element of e-marketing, the 2005 KLRU Distinguished Speaker Series sold out before the first lecture even took place. KLRU has had individual lectures sell-out in the past, but has never sold-out the entire series.
"The SKYLIST team has been great and we're delighted to be working with another locally-owned business," said Bill Stotesbery, CEO at KLRU-TV. "The ease-of-use of the SKYLIST StormPost system enhanced our marketing campaign and with the initial email, we saw an immediate impact."
In addition to KLRU-TV, a further sampling of Austin-based clients includes:
- BookPeople - The largest bookstore in Texas
- FactoryPeople - a boutique based in Austin, TX combining the best fashion, music, art and design from around the world
- Quicksilver Internet Solutions, Inc. - Provider of online outreach strategies for campaigns, political candidates and nonprofit organizations
- Sabia - Austin's original apothecary since 1994 specializing in wholistic face, hair and body care

- Yoga Yoga - Austin's premier source for yoga with three locations and 250 classes weekly
- Yellow Fin Incorporated - A graphic design studio helping clients create a presence in the market place
"After focusing primarily on national accounts on the two coasts, it is a new pleasure to bump into other local business owners that we work with around town or at networking events," said Joshua Baer, CEO and founder of SKYLIST. "Austin is known as a hub of high-tech big business and online innovation. Now, we're seeing small-to mid-sized businesses bolstering the economic growth of the region. We are proud to be a part of that and thrilled to consistently add more jobs here in Austin year after year."
