SKYLIST Ups Commitment to Protect Consumers from Spam

Email Marketing Pioneer First Email Service Provider to Become Certified Against Unsubscribe Abuse

AUSTIN, TX and SAINT LOUIS, MO - September 19, 2005 - Today, SKYLIST, an email service provider (ESP) and deliverability leader, became the first ESP certified by LashBack LLC, an email reputation provider. Now, customers of the SKYLIST StormPost™ email marketing automation solution can protect their brand and improve delivery rates by receiving real-time alerts if unsubscribe requests are not honored by affiliate partners.

"SKYLIST has been an industry leader for a decade and goes the extra mile to ensure that their customers are equipped to manage and respond to growing demands associated with ensuring CAN-SPAM compliance," said Brandon Phillips, president of LashBack. "The adoption of the LashBack certification is yet another industry first and a demonstration of SKYLIST's leadership and innovation."

The CAN-SPAM Act requires that U.S. advertisers provide a working unsubscribe link in every commercial email message. Consumers are instructed to follow this "opt-out" link to be removed from mailing lists. Under the law, the advertiser has ten business days to stop sending commercial email messages to that consumer.

"Without watchdog organizations like LashBack, there would be no way on a global basis to efficiently monitor a commercial mailer's opt-out compliance. Email service providers are a critical link in the compliance chain and companies like SKYLIST can help email marketers and consumers by working with LashBack," said Pete Wellborn of Wellborn & Wallace, LLC. "LashBack's information regarding opt-out violations will be an invaluable tool in the war against spammers."

SKYLIST is on a quest to make CAN-SPAM compliance and email marketing automatic and seamless for its clients. The integration of the LashBack monitoring technology into StormPost facilitates that goal. LashBack's Certified Network Program works by plugging SKYLIST into the LashBack network to ensure that unsubscribe requests (i.e., consumer opt-outs) are being honored in compliance with CAN-SPAM regulation. The program also provides SKYLIST with an enforcement tool to impose proper sending practices on behalf of their growing client base. "As a long-time user of email marketing campaigns, NewsStand relies on SKYLIST to help protect our brand and maximize the efficiency and deliverability of our email campaigns," said Michele Chaboudy, NewsStand's chief marketing officer. "SKYLIST is the first ESP to bring its customers into the feedback loop so they can further monitor unsubscribe reputation scores. We trust SKYLIST to remain ahead of the curve of email trends and best practices, and it is apparent from their early adoption of the LashBack certification program that they are doing just that."
